Preventing antisocial behavior at school

Abstract
This paper presents the application of a psychoeducative program in an elementary school. The objetive was to help children coming from poor social background to improve socio-interpersonal abilities. During several months, children in a experimental group took lessons in social skills, problem-solving and values development. Compared with a control well-adapted group, the experimental one improved substantially in several behavioral , self-perception and cognitive measures. It was also showed a promising outcome in the school marks. This research adds to the prevention literature in concluding the importance of early intervention in the school setting to prevent social desadaptation.
