Anxiety and Depression in a Sample of Military and Civilian Musicians

Different studies show that two groups as different as militaries and musicians usually demonstrate high levels of anxiety and depression. So, the objective of this study is measuring these clinics variables in military musicians comparing with civil musicians. The sample is composed of 266 musicians, represented fifty percent by military and civilian coming from all over the national territory. To measure the levels of anxiety and depression were used the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). The results show a direct relationship between anxiety and depression in the sample total and in both groups, finding that military musicians score higher than civilians in both variables, and that in the military sphere it affects the Ladder, being the troop that presents higher levels of anxiety and especially depression.
