The Inventory of Attributional Style in Test Situations (IACE): Psychometric properties

A new inventory for assessing causal attributions regarding success and failure in examinations (test situations) is presented. Main psychometric data regarding structure, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and external validity are also addressed. Several self-report instruments were administered to a sample of 222 subjects, including: The first version of the Inventory of Attributional Style in Test Situations (IACE) (Cano Vindel, Camuñas & Pérez Nieto, 2000), the Attributional Style Questionnaire (ASQ) (Seligman, Abramson, Semmel & von Baeyer, 1979), the Test Anxiety Inventory (TAI) (Spielberger, 1980), the Inventory of Situations and Responses of Anxiety (ISRA) (Miguel-Tobal & Cano Vindel, 1994), and the Rotter´s Scale (Rotter, 1966). Maintaining the best psychometric qualities of the first version, the second 27-items version of the IACE is finally obtained. This latter version provides two different measures both for success and failure situations: I Attributionality and E Attributionality.
