School fears: gender differences among courses from nursery education to secondary school

The objective of this research was to identify the most serious school fears, gender differences among courses from nursery education to secondary school. 7,808 children, 3,684 girls and 4,124, who attended schools in different towns of the Autonomic Communities of Valencia and Murcia, filled in the School Fear Survey Schedule, developed by Méndez (1988). Results indicated that the most serious school fears are related to school failure and punishment. On the other hand, school fears are more intensive in the high courses than in the low ones, and in girls than in boys.
