Satisfacción vital en madres y padres divorciados

Author
Abstract
In this work, we analyze life satisfaction in a sample of 223 divorced parents (129 mothers and 92 fathers) from different Spanish communities. No statistically significant differences were found in the level of satisfaction with life for mothers, fathers, custodial and non-custodial parents; but there were differences in the predictor variables of life satisfaction, which for the general group of divorced parents were positive affect, negative affect and psychological and emotional difficulties. Life satisfaction (cognitive component) and positive/negative affect (emotional component) of psychological well-being correlated with time since separation, psychological and emotional difficulties, conflict with ex partner and negative effects of divorce on children. Disposition towards coparenting correlated inversely with positive affect, and was independent of life satisfaction. Implications of these findings for intervention and education programs favoring coparenting for divorced parents are discussed.
