Relaxation and positive emotions

Author
Abstract
The main aim of this article is to present a new relaxation system that goes beyond the physiological model of relaxation that prevails nowadays. This system is the result of different studies that we have conducted at the Roosevelt University in Chicago under the direction of Jonathan C. Smith. As with stress, relaxation results to be a multidimensional phenomenon composed of physiological, emotional and cognitive dimensions or factors. Besides, there are differential effects among different relaxation techniques in these factors. Finally, some of the implications for therapy are discussed.
