Burnout in college students of Spain and Portugal: a crosscultural study

Abstract
The current interest on Bournout have lead to extending the field of application. From the first studies focuses on support-personal, to other professional settings, from individual factors to organizational ones. The present paper aims to analyze burnout in college students of Spain and Portugal, establishing relationship with demographic variables, success, professional development and withdrawal. The sample included 1350 college students from Lisbon (Portugal), Castellón and Valencia (Spain). The Spanish and Portuguese versions of the Maslach Burnout General Survey were administered to the sample. Results show the existence of significant differences between countries in the three dimensions as well as other variables: success (real success and expectancies of success), professional development and withdrawal.
