Levels of anxiety in training and three recall situations of competition with different quality of performance

Abstract
The purpose of the present work was to prove the importance of individual differences in the study of the relationship between anxiety (STAI and CSAI-2) and performance, using recall measures about competitions of different quality of performance, in the case of Spanish golfers. Previous studies proposed that because the importance of the individual differences, the possible grupal differences do not reach significance. Also they expect significant differences between a noncompetitive situation and competitive situations. The results showed a group tendency of the values in the sense that the lower the performance of the recall competition, the higher the anxiety level. We found significant differences in the group s anxiety means between the best and the worst competitions in the case of STAI and cognitive scale of CSAI-2. These significant differences could be due to the specific characteristics of golf or to the problems produced by recall measures used.
