Emotions and psychophysiological disorders

In the present paper a review of the role of emotions in health is carried out, especifically regarding with the wide field of psychophysiological or psychosomatic disorders. Changes regarding with psychophysiological disorders conceptualization and classification are also reviewed in detail, from classical nosologies to current classifications, as well as different current research pathways in this area. Finally, research findings on the role of anxiety and anger in several disorders are addressed, especially those related to essential hypertension and peptic ulcer.
