Differences in coping strategies among breast cancer patients and women without cancer

It is presented a research about differences on coping strategies among breast cancer patients and women whithout cancer. It is applied a cuasi-prospective design. The sample was formed by 212 women, all were assessed by the COPE (Carver Scheier y Weintraub, 1989) before the diagnosis. The outcomes showed the more frequently use of the social support and evitative strategies by the breast cancer patients. The patients whitout cancer showed more common use of the supression of distraction activities. This results were standing when the differences on pathological stages and the age effect are statistically controlled.. It is exposed the outcome interpretation and the clinical implications.
