Life stress events as vulnerability factors in breast cancer

Autor
Resumen
The relationship between stress and cancer is a controversial topic in the scientific literature. The aim of the present paper is to study whether women diagnosed of breast cancer, prebiopsy cancer women (N=71) and undergoing cancer treatment women (N=106), differ from healthy control women (N=143) or benign breast disease (N= 290) in relation with severity and frequency of life-stress events and with the degree of peceived social support in the last two-years. Results show that there are not overall significant differences between these four groups (N=610 Ss) regarding life stress events´ severity and frequency neither social support. However, if age si taken into account, some interactions between such variable and the type of diagnosis are found.
