Autor
Resumen
Cognitive-behavioural treatment for bulimia nervosa was firstly introduced in the mid-80 s. Although the existence of several therapeutic approaches, cognitive-behavioural perspective has currently demonstrated its superiority in terms of empirical evidence of effectiveness (Saldaña, 2001; Calvo, 2002). This paper describes the process of assessment and treatment of a case of bulimia nervosa. Treatment procedure includes different cognitive-behavioural strategies such as: stimuli control, progressive muscular relaxation, cognitive restructuring, problem solving training, social skills training and relapse prevention. Results show significant decreases in anxiety and depression symptomathology, as well as elimination of the episodes of binge and vomiting.
