Resumen
The levels of perceived anxiety in two groups of adolescents are established and compared. One of them with pregnancy induced-hypertension (PIH) diagnosis, and the other one made up by adolescents qualified as healthy. It is a collaborative case-control design, in which 128 pregnant adolescents seeking care at the gynecological services in hospitals of the Mexican Ministry of Health in the cities of Durango and Mexico were selected. There were two groups: one made up of 46 adolescents who had been diagnosed with PIH by the medical personnel at the hospital, and the other one was a control group which was made up of 82 adolescents qualified as healthy, according to the specific criteria of the study. Participants agreed on answering the State- Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Perceptions of state and trait anxiety differ significantly between adolescents with PIH and the control group. The results show that the group of adolescents with PIH presents significantly higher levels of anxiety than the control group.
