Emotional intelligence in city police officers
Autor | |
Resumen |
The present study confirmed the factor structure of TMMS-24 and its relation with personality, coping and psychopathology with a 148 city police officers from the Canary Islands. Results confirmed the three-factor structure labelled: Emotional Attention, Emotional Clarity and Emotional Repair. All of them were congruent with the original solution and had adequate internal consistency. The correlational and differential analyses showed positive relationship between emotional intelligence and personality traits, appropriate coping strategies and mental health. Results appeared coherent with those of previous studies that showed that emotional intelligence plays a relevant role whenever labour performance implies an intense emotional demand. Consequently, it can improve psychological well-being in similar populations to that used in our study. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: journal abstract)
