Resumen
The work aims to analyse the psychometric characteristics of the SSRI Shutte Self-Report Inventory in a Spanish sample of 115 university students (average age = 21.8), from different university specialities (Education, Enginery, and Business). The instruments used were: the personality questionnaire NEO-FFI; the intelligence test DAT-5; the Trait Meta Mood Scale (Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey, y Palfai, 1995); the trait emotional intelligence questionnaire TEIQue by Petrides y Furham (2003); the satisfaction and academic performance. The data pointed out the independence between emotional intelligence and verbal and abstract reasoning; and the emotional intelligence and the personality factors relationships. Our data showed a three factor structure according to Mayer and Salovey s model (1990) and agree with other studies showing the instability of the scale.
