Exploring the link between the emotional intelligence and satisfaction with life in Peruvian adults

Autor
Resumen
Emotional intelligence and satisfaction with life can be differentially related, since it is multidimensional and, in sociocultural contexts like Peru, there are few studies about it with these constructs analyzed separately and, even less jointly. This study is aimed at analyzing the association between both constructs based on the methodology of structural equations. 140 people age 16 to 62 participated in the Wong-Law Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) survey. The survey showed a good structural validity of the instruments and suitable reliability instruments (>.70). The use of emotions construct was only the most influential in SWLS (variance explained=12%); sex and age had trivial influence. The consequences of the results are discussed.
