| Resumen |
This study aims to provide empirical evidence on the factorial validity and the internal consistency of the three scales of Engagement (vigor, dedication and absorption). Furthermore, it explores the linkages between the Burnout and the Engagement, together with the existing linkages between each one of these constructs and the strategies to cope with the Burnout focused on emotions and/or the solution of problems. The work is based on a sample of 170 workers devoted to the care of patients suffering from Alzheimer. The results reveal that: 1º) In a second order factorial structure, the three scales of Burnout and the three scales of Engagement will saturate at two separate factors, 2º) According to the level of Burnout and Engagement of the individuals, it is possible to classify them into two clearly different groups: those with a high subjective well-being, and those with a low one, and 3º) The individuals with the lowest feelings of cynicism, emotional exhaustion, absorption, devotion and energy, use coping strategies with Burnout syndrome mainly focused on the solution of problems, and to a lesser extent, those focused on emotions.
