AB - Our aim is to determine the relationships and predictive power of several variables related to control perception construct on illness impact and emotional adjustment. We studied 50 Rheumatoid Arthritis out-patients. Regression analysis showed that the two SIP dimensions, Physical and Psychosocial, were predicted by Perceived Health Competence (R2 =.27, t= - 4.14*** and R2 =.14, t= -2.64**, respectively). Internal Locus was a significant predictor of the Anxiety variable (R2 =.16; t= -3.05**). Finally, Generalized Self-efficacy, in a first step, (R2 =.30; t= -3.30**) and Internal Locus, in a second step, (R2 =.39; t= -2.63**) were significant predictors of Depression. But, only control variables were significant predictors of depression when we controlled the illness impact effect.
