AB - Agriculture is one of the sectors with more occupational accidents; nevertheless, its psychosocial risks have not been sufficiently studied. The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between different job stressors, physical and psychological distress and the number of occupational accidents in a sample of 261 Spanish farmers. Job stressors were measured using an adapted version of Hurrell and McLaney s (1988) Job Stress Questionnaire; distress was measured through the Occupational Stress Indicator (OSI; Cooper, Sloan & Williams, 1988). Results show that distress does not have a direct influence over the number of accidents, but it does modulate the effect of different job stressors. The study concludes indicating some measures that can be taken to reduce the rate of occupational accidents and improve farmers  quality of life.
