López AU - Miguel Ángel Pérez-Nieto AB - In this article we review two important discoveries of psychology of emotion, the universality of facial expressions of emotion and the existence of microexpressions and how they have been used as a basis for the development of training and improving recognition ability programs. We discuss the most important aspects of their application to the real world in various professional and personal spheres. Finally we conclude that, despite the low rate of accuracy in recognizing microexpressions by the majority of the people, there are tools to develop the ability to recognize facial emotion expression.
