This exploratory study examines, from the memory of 80 adults, the relationship between negative emotions, perceived support and resilience linked to bullying and current self-esteem and life satisfaction. It designed and administered a survey to people previously located through virtual support group for former victims of bullying. Significant relationships between the support received after the bullying and self-esteem and life satisfaction, but not with the negative emotions that do relate to short-term resilience, were observed. No emotional differences based on gender or sexual orientation were found. It is suggested that social support for victims who had suffered bullying can decrease its devastating long-term effects.
