The main objective of this paper was to review the scientific literature on EI in the mental health field published so far. Firstly, a literature review on EI and well-being is presented; secondly, we analyze how EI is related to psychological adjustment variables; and, finally, the studies carried out in the field of clinical psychopathology are summarized. The results of previous studies lead us to contemplate EI as a clinical variable involved in the health-disease process. a1134-7937 a2174-0437
