AB - A great deal of epidemiological studies have suggested a relationship between work stressors and organic disorders that can produce chronic diseases and promove the appearance or aggravation of several pathologies. Neuroendocrine responses, especially from adrenal-medullary and hypothalamicpituitary- adrenocortical axes are considered important mediators of the stress-health relations. Also, behavioral and psychological mechanisms have an important mediating role. The study of several particular work stressors and pychophysiological measures have suministered knowledge about more specific relationships between work aspects (effort, control...) with psychobiological patterns of response. The experience of work stress has important consequences on systems that mediate the psychophysiological disorders and influences the immune system which is currently of research interest.
