López-Zafra AU - M. del Carmen Aguilar Luzón AB - In this study, we analize the relationship between Perceived Emotional Intelligence (PEI) and Burnout among nursing proffesionals. Specifically, we analize the PEI predictive capacity to explain burnout levels and mental health among nursing proffesionals. Correlational analyses yielded positivite significant relationships between Emotional Attention and Despersonalization. Emotional Clarity was positively correlated to Personal accomplishment, mental health and high work satisfaction. Finally, Emotional Repair was positively related to personal accomplishment, mental health and work satisfaction. On the other hand, regression analyses verified these results and showed that PEI explained part of the variance that was not explained by sociodemographic variables. Moreover, PEI influenced burnout in two different ways: a directly on burnout dimensions and inderectly by the affect scale. Finally, we found that a lower score on burnout implied being more satisfied with work and a higher bell-being than a higher score. These findings demonstrate that certain cognitives and emotional factors should be considered to explain burnout in nursing professionals.
