Gil-Monte AB - The purpose of this study was to assess the factorial validity and the internal consistency of a German translation of the "Spanish Burnout Inventory" (SBI). A model of four factors was hypothesized, similar to the original structure. The sample consisted of 115 German human services professionals. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted with the LISREL 8.30 program. The hypothesized four factor model obtained an adequate data fit for the sample: Chi² (164) = 272.47 (p = .000), CFI = .91, NNFI = .90, RMSEA = .069. Cronbach s alpha values for all subscales were higher than .70. Results indicate that the SBl offers factorial validity and its scales present adequate internal consistency. Hence, the SBl can be considered a satisfactory instrument to evaluate burnout syndrome in German human services professionals.
