Dolores Martín Díaz00aAnxiety infertile and infertile couples a97-1090 v153 aThe brief version of the Inventory of Situations and Responses of Anxiety (ISRA-B; Miguel-Tobal & Cano-Vindel, 2007) has been administered to a sample of 139 participants (84 infertile and 55 fertile). Infertile versus fertile participants report higher scores in motor anxiety. Motor anxiety is more common in infertile people aged above 30 years. Among the infertile group, those of middle and low educational level show higher levels of anxiety. Infertile participants without children had higher anxiety scores (cognitive, physiological, motor and total anxiety) than the childless fertile participants. Infertile women who have never become pregnant have more anxiety than fertile women. We conclude that the infertile population shows higher self-informed anxiety, especially motor anxiety, compared to the fertile population. This study provides additional information regarding the fertile population: no differences were found in terms of age, but having children was found to be associated with more anxiety.
