Efficacy considerations are drawn basically on the overall effects of the SIT for high and moderate anxiety subjects, type of skills trained (cognitive or behavioral), number of sessions employed, differential effects of the phases, and main characteristics of the SIT (location of training, group size, therapist´s abilities). Conclusions show that the SIT has played an important role in the development of the cognitivebehavioral approaches to the management of anxiety in the last 25 years. Also, SIT has demostrated its efficacy in the management and control of anxiety in clinical, educational and labor contexts and, although its underlying theoretical basis are not cut-clearly determined yet, the SIT seems to be a promising field of research for the future.}, year = {1997}, journal = {Ansiedad y Estrés}, volume = {3}, number = {2-3}, pages = {227-247}, month = {07/1997}, publisher = {Sociedad Española para el Estudio de la Ansiedad y el Estrés}, issn = {1134-7937}, isbn = {2174-0437}, }
